Encoding.com Raises $2m in Funding

Encoding.com, a San Francisco, CA-based video encoding service provider, raised $2m in funding from existing investors.
The round was led by Metamorphic Ventures, with participation from Patrick Condon, angel investor and co-founder of Rackspace, John Engates, CTO of Rackspace, and Dave Morgan, CEO of Simulmedia and founder of TACODA and Real Media.
In February 2010, Encoding.com had completed a $1.25m Series A round.
The company, which currently serves 1,700 customers including leading brands across media and entertainment, eLearning, retail, telecommunications, lifestyle and advertising worldwide, intends to use the funding to expand its operations.
Led by president Jeff Malkin, Encoding.com provides a SaaS encoding service that enables publishers and developers to accelerate processing, reduce errors and optimize video for any web and mobile format, eliminating expensive video infrastructure investments.
