Massar International Holds First Close of Palestinian Private Equity Fund at over $60M

Massar International, a Ramallah, Palestine-based holding company, recently held a first closing of its private equity fund at over $60m.
Siraj Palestine Fund I, which expects a final close at $80m, is dedicated exclusively to investing in small-and-medium sized enterprises (SMEs) operating in Palestine.
Investors in the vehicle include the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), the Soros Economic Development Fund, the Pension Boards of the United Church of Christ and Crescent Investments in addition to Palestinian companies and individuals and other prominent international investors.
Led by founder and chairman Bashar Masri, Massar International established the Siraj Fund Management Company some years ago to manage the fund, which currently has a robust deal flow of prospective portfolio companies in a broad range of sectors including manufacturing, agriculture, ICT, healthcare, transportation & logistics.
