Experience Project Closes Series C Financing

Experience Project, a San Francisco, CA-based company that manages an online community of shared life experiences, has closed a Series C venture financing of undisclosed amount.
The round was led by D.E. Shaw, with participation from existing investors Floodgate and Ron Conway‘s Angel Investors.
The company intends to use the funds to further develop its Experience Project platform and to expand into new markets.
In addition, Peter Jackson has joined Experience Project as CEO.
Launched in 2007, ExperienceProject.com, which now has more than 300,000 groups and communities ranging from health-related experiences to fly-fishing to family life, recently introduced BroadCause, a new social media platform designed to activate, accelerate and aggregate passionate communities around cause-based initiatives.
