Gazillion Entertainment, a San Mateo, CA-based developer, publisher and operator of massively multiplayer online (MMO) games, has received a $60m investment led by Singapore’s Temasek Holdings.
Temasek Holdings joins the company’s major backers including Oak Investments, Hearst Corporation, Revolution Ventures, Pelion Ventures, and the Abu Dhabi Media Company.
As also stated by Rob Hutter, Founder and CEO of Gazillion, Temasek’s investment comes as the company enters a key phase of expansion.
Last month, Gazillion’s NetDevil studio released LEGO Universe, the paramount MMO game based on the iconic LEGO brand of toys. LEGO Universe, published by the LEGO Group, has just been released in North America and Europe throughout LEGO channels and mass market retailers.
In addition, in the first quarter of 2011, the company launches Super Hero Squad Online, the first game to be published under the ten-year exclusive worldwide license agreement with Marvel Entertainment.
