23andMe, Inc., a Mountain View, CA-based personal genetics company, raised over $22m in a Series C financing.
Investors include new backer, Johnson & Johnson Development Corporation, and existing shareholders New Enterprise Associates and Google Ventures.
23andMe intends to use the proceeds from the financing to accelerate research activities and add key staff.
Incorporating DNA analysis technologies and web-based interactive tools, the company’s Personal Genome Service™ enables individuals to understand their own genetic information with deeper insights into their ancestry and inherited traits.
Founded in 2006, 23andMe is advised by a group of renowned experts in the fields of human genetics, bioinformatics and computer science.
