Riptano Closes $2.7M Series A Financing

Riptano Incorporated, an Austin, TX-based company providing software, support and training for Apache Cassandra, which is an open source database developed through the combination of Amazon and Google technology, closed a $2.7m Series A financing.
The round was co-led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, with participation from Sequoia Capital and private investor Jason Calacanis.
In conjunction with the funding, John Vrionis of Lightspeed Venture Partners has joined the company’s board.
The funds will be used to hire developers to work full-time on Cassandra, build a business team to serve its customers, and develop performance management software.
