PlayFirst, Inc., a San Francisco, CA-based publisher of engaging interactive entertainment, completed a $9.2m financing.
It is comprised of $5.2m of venture capital from existing investors including Mayfield Fund, Trinity Partners, DCM and Rustic Canyon Ventures, and $4.0m in debt financing provided by Comerica Bank.
The proceeds from the financing will be used to fund the company’s growth into the market for both mobile and social games.
“With this capital, we will continue to aggressively optimize the PlayFirst brands that consumers love, like Diner Dash, to social and mobile platforms and look for growth through partnerships and potential acquisitions” said Mari Baker, president and ceo of the company.
PlayFirst publishes games across popular platforms worldwide including PC, Mac®, iPhone®, Facebook, and consoles. Its portfolio includes Diner Dash®, Wedding Dash®, Cooking Dash®, Chocolatier®, and Dream Chronicles®.
The company also announced that Eric Hartness has joined the management team as vice-president and general manager, social games. In this role, he assumes responsibility for the overall strategy, execution and results for PlayFirst’s social game business.
Other additions include:
– Matt Levy, who joined as architect, social games;
– Lars Berg as senior product manager;
– Roxanne Gibert joined as senior product manager;
– Ray Holmes as senior game designer;
– Vamsi Prakhya as lead engineer.
