Ubiquisys Raises $5M from Three Asian Investors

Ubiquisys, a Swindon, UK-based developer of 3G femtocells that enable manufacturers to produce low-cost devices customised to mobile operator specifications, has completed the $5m second close of its first funding round.
The investment was led by three Taiwanese companies SerComm Corporation, UMC Capital Corporation and Pacific Venture Partners, with participation from existing investors Advent Venture Partners, Accel Partners and Atlas Venture.
In July, the company completed a $9m funding round led by 5 Continents Consulting Group (5CCG), with participation from Yasuda Enterprise Development Co., Advent Venture Partners, Accel Partners and Atlas Venture.
The new capital infusion will enable Ubiquisys to accelerate its expansion worldwide, particularly in the Americas.
The company’s femtocell (ZoneGate) constantly scans its radio environment and adapts frequency, transmit power and scrambling codes according to operator policies.
