Joyent Secures $15M in Series C Funding

Joyent, a San Francisco, California-based global provider of smart computing solutions, has secured $15m in Series C funding.
The round was led by Intel Capital, with participation from existing investor Greycroft Partners and new backer Liberty Global.
The funds will enable the company to expand international operations and extend product offerings for its core platform-as-a-service cloud computing technologies.
Joyent is an Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) provider offering cloud computing solutions that aim to improve performance, scalability, manageability and security for web and mobile applications. The company serves network of service providers and thousands of customers, including Watercooler, LinkedIn, Country Life and Gilt Group. 
Joyent recently expanded its operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa and acquired Layerboom, a Vancouver-based provider of hardware and software virtualization solutions for hosting providers and enterprises. It now operates smart technology in five data centers in China; Andover, Mass.; Emeryville and San Diego, Calif. and Dallas, Tx. The company also supports service providers in Toronto, Las Vegas, and Amsterdam.
