INKEF Capital Launches to Invest in Start ups in Canada and The Netherlands

Pension funds Stichting Pensioenfonds ABP from The Netherlands and Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS) from Canada have jointly launched a new venture capital initiative.
INKEF Capital intends to invest €200m in start-ups with innovative ideas and technologies of both countries over the first five years (€100m in each of the territories provided by ABP and OMERS, respectively).
Deal flow will come from various sources, including technology transfer offices of universities, informal investors, regional funds and from spin-offs of new technologies by existing companies.
INKEF, which stands for Investing in the Knowledge Economy of the Future, will operate through a Dutch and a Canadian investment company with a long term horizon (15 year).
