Illuminex Corporation, a Lancaster, PA-based company that develops advanced nanotechnology enabled devices, recently closed a $500,000 financing round from undisclosed investors.
Combined with other State and Federal research grants, this funding will allow Illuminex to accelerate the development and commercialization of functional nanomaterials for commercial devices aimed at emerging alternative energy markets.
These include lithium-ion batteries, heat pipes for thermal management, and photovoltaics for producing sustainable solar electricity, all based on the company’s core nanowire array production capabilities.
Illuminex is also seeking strategic partnerships and additional funding.
Founded in 2003 by Dr. Joe Habib, an MIT Fellow active in nanotechnology ventures for over a decade, the company currently has 10 employees.
