EcoMotors International Secures “Substantial” Series B Funding from Khosla Ventures and Bill Gates

EcoMotors International, a Troy, Mich.-based developer of the opoc® engine an affordable, low-emission engine for use in cars, light trucks, commercial vehicles, aerospace, marine, agriculture, auxiliary power units, generators, etc., has secured “substantial” Series B funding.
Investors include Khosla Ventures and Bill Gates.
The funds will be used to complete engineering and testing of the opoc® engine, whose innovative architecture of opposed pistons and opposed cylinders provides benefits such as high efficiency, half the weight and the size of conventional engines, and lower production costs.
Established in early 2008, EcoMotors is led by Don Runkle (CEO) and Prof. Peter Hofbauer (Chairman and CTO), who conceived opoc®.
The company also operates a mechatronik division in Goleta, CA.
