NorthScale, Inc., a Mountain View, Calif.-based provider of an innovative elastic data infrastructure software that enables customers to lower costs while simultaneously improving the scalability and performance of their web applications, has secured $10m in a Series B round of financing.
The round was led by venture capital firm Mayfield Fund, with participation from Series A investors Accel Partners and North Bridge Venture Partners.
The new funding will enable the company to continue its investment in innovation around noSQL database technologies and drive market adoption of NorthScale’s family of data solutions for web applications and cloud computing, including its NorthScale Memcached Server and NorthScale Membase Server.
In conjunction with the funding, Bob Wiederhold, has joined the company as president and chief executive officer. Wiederhold served as chairman, CEO and president of Transitive Corporation, the company leader in cross-platform virtualization, acquired by IBM in 2008.
