Rightware Closes €3M Funding and Acquires Futuremark’s Mobile and Embedded Business Unit

Rightware Oy, a Espoo, Finland-based developer of advanced user interface technologies and solutions for mobile phone and embedded applications, has announced it has raised €3m in a venture capital financing round.
The round was co-led by Nexit Ventures Oy, an investment firm focused on wireless technologies and services with offices in Helsinki, Stockholm and Silicon Valley, and Inventure Oy, a Helsinki, Finland-based early stage investor with a Nordic focus.
The company will use the funds to accelerate development and marketing of:
– Kanzi, a solution enabling manufacturers of mobile phones and automotive display & infotainment systems to create richer and more intuitive user interfaces in less time than it takes with conventional tools and methods;
– device performance measurement products;
– services for mobile and embedded industries.
Rightware also announced that it has acquired Futuremark Corporation’s Mobile and Embedded Business Unit.
Commenting on the announcements, Artturi Tarjanne of Nexit Ventures, member of the Board of Rightware and Chairman of the Board of Futuremark, was reported as saying: “With growing emphasis on great user experience and interactivity, we believe in the rapid growth of the smartphone and automotive user interface markets.
“Rightware offers leading players in these industries better solutions, faster time-to-market, and richer user experiences.
“This spinoff creates a strong company to pursue this business while Futuremark is able to fully focus on the game development and PC Benchmarks businesses”.
Rightware will also continue Futuremark’s work of developing industry leading system performance analysis tools.
