California, Mission Bay Capital Fund Launches

The California Institute of Quantitative Biosciences (QB3) is collaborating with a newly launched $7.5m fund to provide startup capital for bioscience entrepreneurs stemming from University of California’s research efforts.

The Mission Bay Capital Fund will help UC scientists translate their research into products and biomedical therapies. The fund aims to start up 15 companies with an average of $500,000 in seed funding, even  attracting other venture capital firms to participate in this process

This is the first fund for San Francisco-based Mission Bay Capital LLC, which was created in August to make early-stage investments in bioscience companies.
