EBRD Launches New Strategy for Estonia

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)’s Board has adopted a new strategy for Estonia in order to support the country in further advancing the successful transition reforms achieved to date.
In the next years, the Bank’s activities in the country will mobilise financing for national projects in infrastructure and energy sectors (in collaboration with commercial banks and other international financial institutions), and lending to small and medium-sized businesses.
Even though the financial crisis has had a considerable impact on its economy,  Estonia remains  one of the most advanced countries in the region with a favourable business environment, a sound banking system and legal framework, flexible and skilled labour market. The EU membership gives the country access to structural funds.
